There are now over 58 million users on LinkedIn, the number in the UK is nearly 3.5 million and this number is growing rapidly in fact in the time it takes you to read this another 100 new users will have signed up! In the UK alone there are on average 100,000 new users every month!

The average LinkedIn user is 41 yrs old and has 15 years experience - the majority being key decision makers in their businesses. In other words this site is full of potential future employers! There are also over 60,000 recruiters on LinkedIn in the UK.

Given this information it makes sense to be maximising your efforts by making yourself look as good as possible and being as available as possible on LinkedIn. In fact, LinkedIn is the primary recruiting tool used by many recruiters today - both 3rd party recruiters and in-house recruiters.

Many recruiters have switched from concentrating their focus on job boards (Monster, Jobsite etc) to finding the best candidates on LinkedIn because A) Its free and B) they can search passive as well as active jobseekers.
